The Russian navy plans to travel to the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean in 2004. The Defense Ministry would not say when the voyages will take place or how many ships will be involved, these voyages are obviously an attempt to revive Russia's power projection image. Scuttlebutt is that the Russians don't plan to send out any great armadas but there will be several single ship voyages. The Russian Navy currently has over 300 warships, including over 30 submarines. The naval aviation branch has of 400 planes and helicopters. - Adam Geibel
