The Beslan raid, by a largely Chechen force, has caused more Chechens to side with pro-Russian Chechen groups in Chechnya. There are still thousands of Chechens who are willing to fight to get the Russians out of Chechenya. The Russians will not leave until they are assured that there is a Chechen government in place that can keep Chechen bandits and religious fanatics from causing problems in neighboring areas.
