Burundi reported several attacks throughout the country. On March 6 Hutu rebels ambushed a Burundian Army unit near Kambezi and killed six government troops. FDD guerrillas killed 11 civilians in a series of attacks around Bujumbura. A Burundian army source also said another 200 Hutu rebels had entered Burundi from base camp areas in Tanzania. An army patrol engaged the guerrilla group and two soldiers were killed in the firefight.
