- The Burundian defense ministry has admitted that the National Liberation front (FNL) sabotaged the Mugere dam, the largest hydroelectric source in the country. Three of the dam's four turbines were completely destroyed in the 15-hour long attack on Jun 3-4 and the facility can now provide Bujumbura and its suburbs with only two megawatts (instead of eight generally produced before the attack). The rebels had made endless military attacks around Bujumbura during the previous three days and the local radio described the rebel mission at the dam as "massive". - Adam Geibel
