Rwanda continues to shrink the size of its armed forces, demobilizing 1,398 troops. Since 1997, Rwanda has shrunk its armed forces by 35,284. However, no one is sure exactly how many men are in the army. Its believed to be between 50-60,000. Rwanda also supports several groups of armed irregulars. Most of the troops are Tutsis, which are only aboyt 15 percent of the population.
