A Sudanese government spokesman claimed that its forces had completed a successful operation in the Nuba Mountains and "freed" 9000 prisoners who were being used by the SPLA as "human shields." The spokesman claimed the government now controlled the towns of Keloulu, Daluka and Sat al-Dammam in western Nuba. The spokesman claimed that several pieces of artillery were captured.
