Countering the Tibetan Terror

February 16, 2010: Chinese officials were quick to respond to the recent Indian success in getting their Agni III ballistic missile into active service. This came about after the fourth test of the fifty ton, two stage, solid fuel missile. Agni III has a range of 3,500 kilometers and was built to reach targets in China. Chinese officials pointed out that India was, with the Agni III, still at least a decade behind China in the long range ballistic missiles department.

The Chinese introduced the DF-21 in 1999. This missile has a range of over 1,800 kilometers and can haul a 300 kiloton nuclear warhead. It's a two stage, 15 ton, solid fuel rocket. Launched from Tibet, the DF-21 can reach most major targets in India.

Fifteen years ago, China put the larger DF-31 into service. Sort of. This was China's first solid fuel ICBM (with a range of over 8,000 kilometers) and roughly equivalent to the U.S. Minuteman I of the 1960s. The DF-31 weighs about 46 tons and is 60 feet long and 7 feet in diameter. It was designed for use on submarines, land silos and mobile launchers (which would halt at those "parking lots in the middle of nowhere" visible in satellite pictures of Qinghai province). The DF-31 has been shown stored in a TEL (transporter, erector, launcher) vehicle. Driving these vehicles along special highways in remote areas provides more protection from counterattacks, than using a reinforced silo.

 The DF-31 was been in development for over twenty years, and only had its first successful launch eleven years ago. It's now believed to have a reliable and accurate guidance system, as well as a third stage that carries three 50 kiloton warheads. Only about a dozen DF-31s are in service.

The Chinese officials were also quick to dismiss Indian efforts on anti-missile systems (in cooperation with Israel). The Chinese comments appear to be largely for internal consumption, as the Indian efforts are belittled, and it is strongly implied that the Indian missiles not really ready for prime time.

India is becoming more aggressive towards China given that it has purchase billions of weapons and missile technology from US, EU and Israel. Western countries are also very keen to help India in building weapons of massive destruction specifically design to target China.
Since Bush declaration in 2001 in his foreign policy maiden speech that India is a strategic partner to counter balance China which according to Bush is a strategic competitor, all restraints and unofficial embargoes on india have been lifted. According to diplomat.com and many prominent Indian academics there is a world hypocrisis. Human rights and life conditions in India are worst compare to China however as Westerners view China as a threat to their hegemony, India has been promoted as a western ally.
In the 80's and 90's India had remained silent on border issues with China and India had always tried not to offend China. During that period India had never tested missiles aiming towards China nor had it undertook military exercises targeted towards a China threat.
Since then, things have changed as India could now purchase the latest military equipment from the West and EU and the US will help India in logistics, weaponry and intelligence gathering in  any conflict against China.
For instance Britain and BAE are offering thier help to india to construct their light fighter jet engine; the US has offered to India a 30000 ton assault Ship; India has been invited to the reg flag in view of training Indian pilots to modern air dogfight; the German navy is also conducting joint exercise with the Indian navy.
Hence all Indian missiles test and military exercises are specifically targeted against China.
On the other hand the West are exercising a strict military and technological embargoes against China. Any firm or individual suspecting of exporting a trivial technological equipment (even a infra red civil camera) to China  is heavily condemned. Thus in view of pursuing its economic development, China has to resort to espionage to develop its technology as no country is allowed to cooperate with China in technology or R and D. The West claims to exercise that sort of embargo because China is not respecting human rights while human rights conditions are worst in India. The West remains silent to the Cachemire issue, to muslim and christian persecution, it remains silent when Indian police kills ethnic minorities in India, it remains silent when radical Hindus burn catholic churches or kill christian minority, it remains silent to the recent offensive against Maoist rebels,  it remains silent to the Hindus Mojahideen responsible for the recent terrorist bombing in Pune, the same terroris Hindus are present in Britain and one of these days, British will hear about these Hindus Mojahideen terrorists, etc. If such things had occurred in China the latter would have faced a world condemnation and prone to further embargoes.
India is now a western muppet housing weapons of mass destruction targeted towards China and it is serving the US and CIA interests. China should resort to western tacics by selling nuclear weapons to Iran and by stopping purchasing US treasury bills.

You're crazy. India is a peaceful, even cowardly democracy with civil rights. We Chinese civilians live in better condition because we're more prosperous and have less muslims, however many civil rights are unavailable.

I can say for certain if we ever make a landgrab for the Himalayan water sources, something we have been multitasking along with economic development and further control of our Tibetan region which we have strong claims to, you'll find some way to point out how this is India's fault. Personally I will support it, because I am a patriot, but the de jure is definitely on their side.

Most of your article is such utter rubbish, I only bothered to read the start, the end and throw a glance at the middle. When your entire moral view revolves around whether something is better for China or not you are selling out your intellect for irrational yet strong (though dangerous) nationalistic fervor.
A population that blindly supports its country, people like you, will benefit the country, especially if it is strong, for some time... but discrimination of everyone else and arrogance of being will ultimately do far more damage. This is not to say western self hatred and/or relativism isn't almost as or just as bad.

Should the people of the West take the line you are taking they would not only call for an invasion of China but also for the genocide of minor segments of the population to avenge Chinese support for genocidal regimes.

You are not a historian, nor a politician (hopefully you will never be), you are a useful but dangerous nationalist.

I do oppose the Indian buildup, because I do not wish for them to be a threat, and I wish to be in peaceful relations with them from a position of peace or a position of strength. I also wish for them to be weak so that we can enforce our will if we need to.

But I am no fool such as you. I best serve my country by maintaining a clear mind.

Western people will not think their interests are magically less valuable than yours. Well, actually they do, but someday they will get over their humongous guilt trip over the Fascist Prussians and Nazi Fascist forcing two world wars on them.

India is currently changing from a peaceful, cowardly democracy to a peaceful democracy ready to defend itself with some minor extremist elements (much less than Pakistan (of course!) and even China). India is not as aggressive as it was under Nehru, but they are being more defensive than their usual cowardice, aided by the West, which is bad for China but good for them.

Based on your good English and grammar and consistent jingoist xenophobe pro-genocidal dictator opinions you're either a middle to upper-class Chinese civilian or an agent. In either case I doubt you've ever given to a foreign charity of any sort, even us Hong Kongers and locals are unlikely to care too much for foreigners.

What we need to do is not to brainwash our civilians but to engender in them understanding and empathy for the west and India while retaining our national unity. Personally I think India would be a far better ally then Pakistan for a vast number of reasons, but if we insist on not furthering a detente with India then I would advise preparing to grab their water resources in the north then bunkering down for a permanent detente and discarding Pakistan... preferably conducting the grab in their next war against each other.
As a short-term solution playing the over-used victim card with the West will give us a diplomatic advantage, but further irrational indoctrination of our population as us being inherently more important or valuable can only lead to extreme views trickling into the leadership of the time.

I have no desire for a Third World War. Our ascent should be gradual and stable, as is the Chinese way.

India and China don't have any major unsolvable issues between them. But one Indian saint Vivekananda predicted 100+ years ago that China is a sleeping dragon and when it wakes up there will be a hell to pay(now we know who has to pay:-)). Chinese intellectual establishment sees India as a continuation of British India..since we departed in a kissy-fashion..though they looted us to our underpants..& hav audacity today to take credit for Railways,mind-numbing educational system that they created to exploit Indian resources..China is a grumpy civilization which woken-up finally and wants somebody to pay for keep them down all these time (Brits did this by selling drugs to Chinese) Hutington hypothise Chinese civilization as a "swing force" which along with "Slavs(Russians)"might either join Islamic nutjobs or Judeo-Protestant-Christian West+Hindu civil. If CHina chooses jihadis..then we Indians along with West are screwed.

Why are so many chinese on american, english-language web sites? Especially the jingoist ones who see the US as their enemy? The US is going to end up having to go to war with China because people like them are going to fuel Chinese aggression to the point that the US will have no choice but to step in to humiliate and crush China to preserve the peace in east asia. We really have better things to do, and don't begrudge the Chinese making more money (you realize that is OUR money you are getting, right?) but what we can't accept is China acting like an international bully and threatening its neighbors. Eventually, China will back up its threats and bullying with force, and then we will have to act. I only hope that when we do, we crush China badly enough that it doesn't just lick its wounds and try again. :P

I would have thought that a major factor in not exporting tech to China would be their abysmal record on patent and copyright issues.
They are quite happy to copy anythign they can, reverse engineer other stuff, and "forget" about paying licence fees.
Ripping off anyone and everyone seems to be the new Chinese culture :(

Wow, look at the 50 cent gang piling up on this board.  China is making illegitimate claims on Indian territory for water first, finishing off the Tibetans second.

But Russia will not allow India to lose and the US has a base within 500 miles of the Brahmaputra and it is getting more and more gear beyond spec-ops and airborne as India sends trains full of tanks and troops up to the line.

Many shooting incidents have taken place as PLgay troopers test the Indian response time.

India = good
China = bad
