The Indian Air Force is suffering from a pilot shortage (not least because it loses 10 pilots a year due to accidents). Its pilot training system will graduate 53 pilots this year; the Air Force wants 132. The shortage is going to continue as the Indian Air Force tries to expand from 39 fighter squadrons to 55.--Stephen V Cole
