mso-bidi-language: AR-SA"> The government has backed away from negotiating a peace with LTTE and is now intent on defeating them militarily. The government believes that the LTTE has sent out at least twenty suicide teams to attack politicians before the October 10th elections. The rebels feel that by terrorizing the politicians they can have an impact on government policy towards the rebellion. In Jaffna, rebel shelling increased to the point that the areas only airfield was shut down. In the last 24 hours, the government reports that light combat has killed some 14 rebels.
