Suicide Special Celebration

November 30, 2007: Fighting, along the front lines up north, is getting more intense, with casualties sometimes more than a hundred a day. Most of the activity is directed at preventing the LTTE from sneaking fighters into Sri Lanka proper. The army is also taking more LTTE bunkers, as the LTTE is not as effective in defending their positions any more. There is still some fighting in the east, where several groups of LTTE fighters refuse to surrender and are conducting guerilla operations.

November 28, 2007:  Two LTTE suicide bombers attacked in the capital, leaving 21 dead. The LTTE had promised a major attack to celebrate their annual "Heroes Day" festivities, and this, apparently, was it.

November 27, 2007: The government accused a UN aid organization of assisting the LTTE. The UN denied it, but, throughout the world, corruption, fear, or partisanship, among UN employees has caused rebels and bandits to benefit.

November 26, 2007: The LTTE is moving more of its operations to Tamil Nadu, the south Indian state that is the homeland of all Tamils. The LTTE is officially not welcome in Tamil Nadu, but it has many supporters there.

November 25, 2007: The air force found and bombed an LTTE communications center in the north, which included a satellite dish.

November 24, 2007: Unlike most terrorist organizations, the LTTE keeps good records. For example, they just announced that 19,887 LTTE members have died in the last 25 years. The LTTE was formed in the early 1970s, but didn't "go to war" with Sri Lanka until late 1982. Their dead include 343 suicide bombers (27 percent of them women). Over 50,000 others (Tamil and Sinhalese civilians, plus soldiers and police) have died as well.

Whoa! What a load of misinformation!

For example "Two LTTE suicide bombers attacked in the capital, leaving 21 dead." There was ONLY ONE suicide bomber, and that bomber attacked Paramilitary Leader, Douglas Devananda's office. In the Nugegoda explosion, it was a parcel bomb that killed about 20 civilians.

Then the insinuation.  "
The UN denied it, but, throughout the world, corruption, fear, or partisanship, among UN employees has caused rebels and bandits to benefit."  God!  Only few organizations provide aid in the North East, and UN is fortunately one of them.  The nerve of the Sri Lankan Government, and the writer of this article to insinuate that UN is compromised.  UN is NEUTRAL in Sri Lanka. Period.  Don't compromise the good work they do to alleviate the suffering of those hurt by the war just to further your political agenda.

Seriously, Strategy Page who writes your articles?  You need to find some one better!

Ron Harvey    Tamil Tiger Suicide Terror   12/1/2007 9:00:28 PM
Whether it was one or two suicide bombers striking makes no difference. What matters is that the LTTE, as the world's most virulent racist terrorist organization is known by, indiscriminately attacked Sri lankan civillians causing close upon 50 casualties. The Tigers' reputation for intolerance of dissent also is reiterated in these attacks, shown clearly in the suicide attack targetting the moderate Tamil leader Douglas Devananda, captured in graphic detail on video posted on the Sri Lankan defence dept website . Devananda is among the thousands of ethnic Tamils who supports the Sl govt's stance against the terrorist group. Unlike Devananda, thousands of Tamils who are similarly opposed to the Tigers' terror prefer to keep silent in order to avoid being targetted as he was.

A little known fact is that the Tamil Tigers remain the most dangerous terror group in the world, and have carried out in excess of 350 suicide attacks, more than the combined total of suicide bombing in the history of human civilization. The LTTE also holds the highest number of child combatants deployed in warlike situations, while the UN and affiliated organizations make nominal protests against this crime against humanity. These facts are well documented and can be individually researched.

Atherosclerosis    UN Neutral? Don't make me laugh.   12/12/2007 1:41:34 PM

UN Neutral? What kind of ridiculous statement is that, more importantly who are you trying to fool with it? The UN's bias is known to all and the UN office in Colombo is referred to (by even the holy than thou Western Governments) as a Tiger Den.

They've been secretly buying equipments and sending supplies to the LTTE as well as providing health care to LTTE fighters under the guise of "helping civilians" to keep the LTTE up and running as long as they can.

Like most NGOs they thrive on war and suffering of poor people in distant lands

These NGO workers come to Sri Lanka for what to them is a free holiday in paradise; they draw their own paychecks and have parties all the time. I know because i've seen it, especially the East?now that?s one hell of a party place. UNICEF needing "emergency rations for their staff" is the biggest joke ever, ah the good chap running the place always makes it into our lunch time comic relief sessions- if only he knew how popular he is.

Should also check out what these "carers for humanity" get up to in Colombo, i for one think half the clubs were built for them to "relax" in after some "hard work" -doing nothing that is. I hear they extremely enjoy the local girls and young boys too, something "new and exotic" for the older men especially. Just disgusting to see what some of them do and get away due to their "neutrality" and diplomatic immunity.

These NGOs (90% of them) occasionally make some noise about "human rights" and what not acting like they are doing some work -uncovering naughty state secrets--GASP! GASP!- and thus deserve those ridiculously large pay checks. Same goes for most journalists (Western) who pay visits to Lanka. Free holiday -spend most of their time getting a sunbath plus other fun on the beaches and then of course like the NGOs have to justify there stay with some "work" so they just print off something they got from Tamilnet. As is the case most Western journalists listen to Tamil economic refugees sob stories about Tamil "suffering" with heavy plays off the "discrimination"/"minority victim"/race cards and so are generally biased/prejudged against the Sri Lanka (and the Sinhalese). They believe what crap the Tamil economic refugees have to say so much that when they come to Sri Lanka they are in total shock to see that none of it is true (Tamils use these sob stories to get into Western countries) and then think there is a massive cover up going on -Like German people being unaware of what was happening to the Jewish people- except in Lanka's case the EVIL Sinhala Buddhist boogieman is actually aware of the cover up and is actively taking part in it-poor Tamils...sniff sniff. Thus the "concerned" journalists try to "uncover" the truth, but cannot because it is a fallacy created by Tamils to further themselves, and so the "concerned" journalists fail miserably and end up turning to "reliable" sources like the aforementioned NGOs, Tamilnet and Tamil MPs.

Tamil MPs of course talk the biggest amount of garbage by putting their RACE first- as could be seen after the Nugegoda blast 2 weeks ago when they along with other Tamils in the streets were partying and cheering the heroic act of killing innocent Sinhalese, after all they are Sinhalese they deserve to die, but then shut the party music off and started crying "human rights" when we hauled 2000 of them of to Boosa detention facility for the crime they committed. Their racist hypocrisy has no bounds.

Its in fact the reason why this conflict started, Tamils put their race above the country ? they are communalists- and declared war on us in the 1970s, a war designed to further the advancement of their race and only their race at the expense of the other peaceful communities in Sri Lanka, they had no problem dragging the whole country to hell to fulfil their communalism. End result is what you see today, the Tamil ONLY areas have been reduced to ash ?i.e. the North and East which they ethnically cleansed of Sinhalese in genocide fashion since the 1970s itself, such massacres against Sinhalese are kept all hush hush now. And even after they brutally threw us out of ?their areas? they have no problem whatsoever living in the South ? the Sinhala "area" the only part of OUR OWN country we?re allowed to live in while Tamils have freedom of movement anywhere. In fact they can go, do, say and kill who and what they want and get away it. That?s the extent of freedom Tamils have.

You find millions of Tamils living in the South, enjoying all the perks we always have given them since Independence like free education, free healthcare and opportunities (things they happily denied us when they ruled the land during Colonialism through the policy of divide and conquer which propelled them to positions of power and disproportionate amounts of wealth plus all
