Attrition: Women Join the Nepalese Army

March 2, 2006: The Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) completed the training of its first women officers, when 68 women became lieutenants. Nepal has recently begun recruiting women into the army, and hopes they will soon represent five percent of the entire force. The women are being trained to handle combat operations, as well as the support jobs they will spend most of their time on.
