Military Photo: Small-diameter Bomb

Archives

This ground training Guided Bomb Unit-39 small-diameter bomb is in a stowed configuration at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, on Aug. 1. When released, the ground training bomb rotates and deploys diamond-backed wings. Despite its small size, the 250-pound bomb can penetrate several feet of reinforced concrete.
