A functional replica of a Curtiss A-1 Triad seaplane skims the water in front of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis on Naval Air Station North Island, in San Diego, Feb. 11, 2011. This type of plane was the first aircraft purchased by the Navy 100 years ago. The replica took part in the Centennial of Naval Aviation open house and Parade of Flight.
