The situation in Haiti remains desperate. While elections are due in three months, the various organized political groups in the country still favor armed force, and "winner take all" corruption as legitimate political tactics. This mentality has caused political, and economic, catastrophe for Haiti over the last two centuries. It does not appear like the UN will have sufficient resources to change this. A new Haitian government will be elected, given lots of guns, declared secure, and the peacekeepers will depart.
