Israel took delivery of the first of three German made, Dolphin class coastal submarines. These boats are 56 meters (186 feet) long, diesel-powered and displace 1,550 tons. Their main weapons are fired via ten multi-function (torpedoes, missiles, mines or decoys ) torpedo tubes. The other two boats will be delivered by 2000.
