In several incidents, Palestinians ambushed Israeli vehicles, killing two soldiers and two civilians. Eight other soldiers were wounded in the gunfire. The Islamic Jihad was suspected. Israeli troops began sealing off some Palestinian areas. Israel will also begin establishing buffer zones to try and keep Palestinian rock throwers from Israeli troops. A survey of Palestinians indicated that 80 percent of the population supported suicide attacks against Israeli targets and 73 percent thought that US targets should be hit as well. In the past, some 60 percent of Palestinians opposed suicide attacks. That percentage is now fifteen percent.
