On the Lebanese border, Israeli troops fired five bursts of rifle fire at Lebanese journalists approaching two Israeli bulldozers working on the Israeli side of the fence. The Lebanese government protested. The Israelis are tense because of Hezbollah's renewed attacks on Israeli troops. Israel accused UN peacekeepers on the Lebanese border of providing passive support for Hezbollah attacks by not reporting hostile Hezbollah activity on the border.  Israel also stated that the Palestinian Authority is recruiting Palestinian veterans of the Chechen war for further attacks on Israelis. Meanwhile, Palestinian violence has declined since Israel reduced move restrictions to Moslem holy places for Ramadan. Israel has also allowed the Palestinian airport in Gaza to reopen.
