Israel and the Palestinian Authority remain deadlocked. Israel still demands a few days of peace and the arrest of the killers of the Israeli tourism minister. The Palestinians cannot control their radicals and do not want to risk civil war by going after the radicals. The Israeli government, being a democracy, must also pay attention to popular sentiments. Most Israelis want security more than they want peace with the Palestinians. There is no likely compromise plan in sight.
