: 10.0pt"> Israel is developing contacts with Palestinian leaders other than long time kingpin Yassir Arafat. The government now says that if Arafat leaves to attend conferences outside Israeli, he will not be allowed back into Palestinian territory.

Israel asserts that at least 200 al Qaeda operatives have found refuge in Lebanese Palestinian refugee camps. There has been some fighting between Palestinian and al Qaeda militants over who would control the camps.
