Arafat's popularity has declined over the last year as Palestinians realize that the two year's of violence is doing them more harm than good. The problem is, who replaces Arafat; moderates or radicals. With the former, there's a chance for peace, with the latter, the violence will escalate. 

Israeli tanks, infantry and bulldozers continue to enter the outer districts of Gaza to destroy buildings thought to house terrorist activities.
