: 10.0pt"> A suicide bombing in Tel Aviv bus killed six and wounded several dozen. The government then announced that this appeared to be the start of another major terror bombing campaign. Strict security measures over the last two weeks (for the Jewish Holy Days) made it difficult for Palestinians to move around. But loosening of these restrictions is seen as giving the terrorists more opportunities.

After the bombing, troops entered  Yassir Arafat's compound, and began destroying buildings and arresting people (23 so far). The government called for Arafat to surrender known and suspected terrorist leaders who have been hiding out in his compound.
