: 10.0pt"> In the Palestinian town of Hebron, Palestinian gunmen ambushed Jewish worshipers returning from a local shrine, and then ambushed Israeli troops who rushed to the scene. When the fighting was over, twelve Israelis (nine soldiers and three security guards) and three Palestinian gunmen were dead. Another 15 Israelis were wounded. Israeli troops had pulled out of Hebron on October 25th, with the understanding that the Palestinian Authority would keep the local terrorists under control.
