The 30 months of violence have left 3,119 dead (2,342 Palestinians, 719 Israelis.)

The new Palestinian prime minister, Mahmoud Abbas, is trying to work out some kind of peace deal with the Palestinian terrorist organizations. No one is very optimistic. Israel says it will give Mahmoud Abbas two months to restrain the terrorists, otherwise there will not be peace negotiations. For Mahmoud Abbas to do this he would have to fight a civil war with the terrorist groups (whose main reason for existing is the destruction of Israel.)
