Palestinian police returned to the streets of Gaza, and Israeli troops withdrew, and said they would stay out if the Palestinian police could stop the attacks on nearby Israeli towns. Israel said it would release some Palestinian police officials from prison, and remove others from lists of senior terrorists marked for death by Israeli hit teams.
