Israel: February 27, 2005

A faction of the Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the Tel Aviv bombing. Israeli and Palestinian police promptly began arresting Islamic Jihad members thought to be involved in the attack. Israel accused Syria of providing support for the Islamic Jihad faction that carried out the recent attack. The Syrians denied the accusations, but not convincingly. But Israel has threatened to launch air attacks on Syria if there was not some action against Palestinian terrorists in Syria. Israel has bombed Syrian targets in the past, and the Syrians have folded.
