The Palestinian Authority is July 17th delaying legislative elections to sometime in the Fall. The reason is the growing popularity of terrorist organization Hamas. If this outfit wins too many seats in the legislature, peace deals with Israel will be difficult to work out. Hamas believes that Israel must be destroyed, and that the current ceasefire is just a temporary halt in violence that will eventually bring Israel down.
