The government said it was fighting for control of a rebel held town in the diamond rich area 96 kilometers north of the capital. The government has raised armed citizens to help troops clear rebels out of northern Liberia. Some 150,000 people have become refugees because of the fighting. Relief supplies have not been able to get through to many refugees because of the fighting.
