A majority of parliament has demanded that president Obasanjo resign because of incompetence and unwillingness to sign laws passed by the legislators. The president refuses and government remains paralyzed. The legislators are particularly incensed at the president's unwillingness to move against the massive corruption that has paralyzed the economy. Nigeria is rated as having the most corrupt government on the planet, and the atmosphere of corruption has resulted in Nigerian criminal gangs being highly active all over the world.
