Lawyers belonging to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) stayed away from the courts today to protest the sharp decline in law and order and growth of vigilantism and regional warlords. The NBA is particularly upset over the murder of one of their members earlier this month by the Bakassi Boys (who were upset at the lawyers legal actions against them.) The Bakassi Boys have since been recognized by the state government as Anambra Vigilante Services. Private law enforcement now competes with the government police.
