Government workers and journalists finally reached Moslem villages in central Nigeria that had been the scene of an attack by Christian gangs. Apparently, over 500 Moslem civilians were killed. This was the largest death toll in the series of tribal raids against Christian and Moslem villages in the area that has left thousands dead in the past few years.
