Another day, another coup. Burundian government sources said the Burundian Army stopped another coup. Apparently officer cadets kidnapped a Burundian Army general who is a support of President Pierre Buyoya. Initial reports suggested the coup conspirators object to Buyoyas willingness to pursue peace talks with the FDD and other Hutu groups. Approximately 200 troops and cadets were involved in the coup attempt. The 200 surrendered to the army after the coup failed.
