The first allegation came from a DRC (Kinshasha) spokesman (always a suspicious source). The DRC spokesman claimed that Rwandan-backed members of the RCD and troops from the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA) had arrested and executed 20 members of the RCD in Kisangani. A Rwandan spokesman immediately denied the accusation. The propaganda jousting follows the rebellion of approximately 100 members of the RCD who took over the Kisangani radio station. RCD spokesmen are now saying several mutineers were killed as loyalist RCD troops expelled them from the radio station.
