A jailed RUF leader died of malaria and many RUF rebels did not take it well. Six other jailed RUF members have died in captivity this year. They died of disease, as the years of living in the bush has not been healthy. But the captive RUF members, some due to be tried for war crimes, are a sensitive issue with nearly all RUF members.
