The latest LTTE offensive has left 121 soldiers dead, 61 missing and 854 wounded in the last two weeks. The government estimates that some LTTE rebels have also been killed. Off the northern coast, the navy rescued 19 sailors from two gunboats. But 16 other sailors were feared lost.
