 Fighting eased in the north, as both sides exchanged bodies of their dead soldiers. The government reported its failed defense of Elephant Pass cost it 88 dead, 457 wounded and over a hundred missing. Overall, the last month of fighting 248 dead and 1,689 wounded. It was estimated the LTTE lost 368 dead and over 1,000 wounded.
