The armed forces were given the power to seize property and vehicles as needed to further the war effort. Censorship was imposed on the media and, in effect, the nation was put on a war footing. Diplomatic relations were also restored with Israel, in a bid to obtain needed military aid and advice. This, of course, rules out any aid from Moslem nations. Nevertheless, the government has asked for Pakistan for military assistance.
