LTTE rebels took two small military camps on the outside of Jaffna city. The days fighting cost government forces 33 dead and 149 wounded. The army had moved more artillery to the north, and was using Kfir warplanes to bomb LTTE positions. India has ruled out any military intervention on the side of the government, no matter how bad the situation gets. The reasons for this are not hard to understand, as there are far more Tamils living in south India than in Sri Lanka.
