Seeking to block the Sea Tiger arm of the LTTE rebels, Sri Lanka has arranged to buy two Shanghai-class patrol boats from China for $3.96 million each, as well as two tank landing ships. Another deal with an undisclosed buyer will cover five new fast attack gunboats for $3.8 million each.--Stephen V Cole
