The Sudanese government claimed it had captured nine areas in the Nuba Mountains. The government also confirmed that Sudan's President Omar el-Beshir will meet SPLA leader John Garang in Nairobi on June 2. An SPLA press release on May 28 had accused the Sudanese government of burning out 14 villages in the Nuba Mountains and destroying 5,000 homes.
