The SPLA claimed it had killed 175 Sudanese government troops and militiamen in a series of battles. The biggest battle occurred September 10 when the SPLA ambushed a water-born convoy of 12 supply ships on the Nile. The report said that attack was launched by the SPLA's "Central Upper Nile Command."
