South Africa is increasingly worried that the Angolan civil war pitting the Angolan government (MPLA) against UNITA could "spillover" into the rest of southern Africa, much like the Congo War has spread across central Africa. Several South African sources have said they became very worried when Namibia's President Sam Nujoma allowed the Angolan Army to launch attacks against UNITA from Namibian territory as well as chase UNITA guerrillas into Namibia. Who would get involved? The South Africans say Zambia is already on the edge of war and Botswana could get dragged into it as well.
