UNITA claimed its forces killed 102 government soldiers and five Namibian soldiers in action that occurred throughout Angola from May 19 through 26. The action involving the Namibians took place in Cunene province on May 23. UNITA guerrillas ambushed a seven vehicle convoy, killing 12 Angolan government (MPLA) soldiers and five Namibian troops. There was no independent substantiation of the claims. In fact, Namibia issued a statement calling the UNITA claims a complete lie.
