The government has agreed to halt its expulsion of Congolese diamond miners after reports got out that the army was basically stealing everything the Congolese had, killing those who resisted, raping women and painfully searching, or killing and cutting open, those they suspected were hiding diamonds internally. Several thousand of the Congolese have died and many more have entered Congo with stories of the abuse and pillaging.
