Kyrgyztan continues to slide towards rebellion or civil war. The government, run by corrupt Soviet era bureaucrats determined to hold on to power, continues to jail more protestors. Radical Islamic groups are trying to organize resistance in the countryside, while urban protestors want more democracy and less corruption by government officials. If current trends continue, the government will be facing armed opposition groups within a year or two.
