Uzbekistan made a military cooperation deal with Lithuania to help the Uzbeks create a professional armed force. The Lithuanians successfully did this after the Soviet Union fell apart in 1991. The Uzbeks have been less successful doing this. 

The French and US warplanes stationed in Kyrgyzstan to support operations in Afghanistan are being replaced  by 18 aircraft from Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands.
