Seven local government buildings in different parts of Kyrgyzstan were occupied by some 700 supporters of candidates who lost in the country's March 13 parliamentary elections, and believed that the government had rigged the elections. There was some apparent vote fraud, and the government prevented many opposition candidates from even getting on the ballot, usually for very questionable reasons.
