Uzbekistans secret police have, for the moment, defeated opposition groups. There is no united opposition, but rather a varied collection of opponents (Islamic radicals, democrats, business groups, tribal groups). Many of the opposition groups do not get along with each other, and Uzbekistans security forces are well trained and loyal. The government is still vulnerable, because the majority of people are unhappy with the government. But without unity, there is no strength among the opposition.
