The $3.7 billion oil pipeline that goes from Chad, via Cameroon,  to the Atlantic ocean began operation. Both countries will receive billions of dollars over the next few years as Chad's growing oil operations move their product to world markets. Chad agreed to have the oil money carefully watched, to avoid the corruption and theft that usually accompanies oil money in Africa. There has already been some dispute about oil money in Chad being diverted to military uses.
