Suspected FARC gunman kidnapped an Indian rights activist 300 kilometers north of the capital. Four days ago, FARC killed at least two dozen Indians in the areas they suspected of collaborating with the government or AUC. The Indians are protesting the building of a dam in the area. Carlos Castano, head of the AUC, has resigned that post. He said that he could not answer for some of the actions (massacres, etc) of his subordinates and was going to split up command of the AUC.
