AUC militia killed 16 civilians in the northwest. The victims were believed to be members, or supporters, of the ELN. In the south, army helicopters shot up members of a thousand man FARC unit found moving out of the FARC autonomous zone. An estimated hundred or more rebels were casualties. The army is bringing in several thousand troops to go after the rebels and prevent the rebels from launching attacks on towns and army bases.
